April Lockhart

April Lockhart was born on July 4, 1995. in seventh grade. She began playing guitar and taking piano classes, which ignited her passion for music writing. April Lockhart composed her first track, Different at the age 12 years old. In her 14th year, April devoted much of her time writing and practicing songs. The songwriting began alongside her father at home in NY and LA soon after. April also began to include different topics related to some of her classmates who struggle with issues such as social pressure and teenage suicide as depicted in the song Take my Hand. Lockhart has her own fan base and also works as an online lifestyle blogger for the well-known Ilia the Clean Beauty brand. Lockhart was born with no left hand. It's an aspect of her identity, but this isn't the whole truth. Lockhart doesn't deny her disability on her Instagram account, but she does not make it the main focus of it. What is the message? The message? We each contain multitudes, that our physical and identity bodies aren't what appear. Lockhart is interviewed through video from Nashville. "I don't want it to define my existence. I don't want to only be recognized as an expert in disabilities. The fact that she is a disability influencer doesn't impact my daily life. All is well and I've learned to make adjustments.
